Questions you should ask your next plumber before you hire

If you are simply minding your own business in your home only to then notice that a pipe is leaking or the boiler has broken down, it can feel like your lifestyle has juddered to a sudden and unexpected halt. After all, you are probably very reliant on a thorough and reliable drainage system.
Therefore, you could treat it as a matter of urgency to seek the services of a plumber as soon as possible. However, there are rogue traders out there who are willing to exploit people who rush too quickly into making a decision. Remember to ask these questions before hiring a plumber...

How much experience do you have in the plumbing business?

This is a question that the UK Government has advised asking, says The Guardian. Fortunately, when you seek an emergency plumbing service from our company Plumbrescue, you can rest assured that our engineers have been providing plumbing and heating services for more than 20 years.
You should also ask whether the plumber has physical work premises where they are based; our own premises are at 187 Cathedral Road in the Welsh capital, Cardiff.

How long will you take to arrive in an emergency?

Of course, there are certain plumbing dilemmas where the sooner a plumber arrives, the better. If, for instance, your toilet seems to be dispensing its contents here, there and everywhere, you should probably prioritise asking a plumber how long it will be before they arrive at your house.
Fortunately, if you have an urgent plumbing issue in Cardiff or South Wales, you are very unlikely to need to wait longer than an hour before we arrive. In fact, in 99% of cases, we have attended a plumbing or heating emergency in less than an hour.

How much time will it take you to complete the job?

This is crucial because the amount of this time could influence how much you ultimately need to pay. In 2015, Trading Standards Institute officer Steve Playle told the BBC: "Many plumbers charge a call out and then for every half hour". He added: "If you give them the job, don't just leave the trader to it but keep popping in on them to check on what they are doing."
He remarked: "We've had cases where we've seen traders hitting the side of a boiler with a spanner to make it seem as if the work has continued into the next charging band." However, if you have a boiler problem, you won't have to fret about paying us an inflated price to have it repaired, as our engineer will instead confirm a fixed price with you before they even start working on your boiler.
